THE?LODGE SCHOOL suffered a nightmarish evening when the Super Centre Inter-Schools Under-15 Volleyball Competition continued on Wednesday at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
In the girls’ semi-final, The Lodge were hammered by Springer 25-2, 25-13. Then, in the final preliminary boys’ game, Queen’s College (QC) nailed the Lodge lads 25-4, 25-11.
It was not enough that QC boasted national juniors Adam Niles and Nathaniel McClean along with the talented Kore Denny, but QC added insult to injury after the first set by playing junior girls’ libero Janina Mayers and Gabriella Mitchell as attackers, who offered little respite for the Lodge boys.
While QC will advance to next week’s play-offs, Springer will meet unbeaten Christ Church Foundation in the girls’ final. (KB)
