Consultant breast radiologist Dr George Eckel made this suggestion at a breast-screening lecture before a fair-sized audience at the Ursuline Convent Hall, Collymore Rock, on Thursday night.
“I want to see every woman on this island come in for a mammogram at age 40. If she has a family history of breast cancer, then I want to see her earlier.
“If her mother had breast cancer at age 45, I want to see her at 35. If her mother had breast cancer at age 40, I want to see her at age 30. If her sister has breast cancer now, I want to see her right away.”
