ACCOUNTANTS IN BARBADOS?have been told to understand their changing roles and to become more diversified workers.
President of Certified General Accountants (CGA) Caribbean Inc, Hank Lucas, made the point against the backdrop of what he said was a greater importance being assumed by matters such as corporate governance.
 “Coming out of the scandals over the last decade, there is a growing need for compliance and internal monitoring so we are always encouraging CGAs to get involved with those and don’t only see themselves as being ‘hard core’ accountants.
“As the economic climate gets worse, [business] empires are going to need financial people who can multi-task and take on additional roles,” he said.
