Longing fuh de gud ole days

Life can be strange, often yuh does live in de past, looking back to de good old days, when life was simpler and tings different and sweet.
We remember when we had li’l more money in we pocket, when mortgage interest could be claimed fuh tax purposes, when we had travel and entertainment allowances. Dese days, yuh lucky if yuh could afford de fare fuh a minibus! How I wish fuh de good ole days!
In de good ole days, people nused to sell ice from duh home iffing dem had a fridge and de neighbours didn’t have one, or yuh would go to a neighbour’s house and ask fuh a phone messagem and iffin yuh lucky, them would bring an old black rotary phone and hand it through de window fuh you to mek a call.
Today, everybody got fridge, phone and mobile phone. Dese days better than de good old days! In de good ole days, nobody had TV and iffing yuh did, yuh had one channel to watch, black and white, sometimes it on and sometimes yuh see “normal service will be resumed as soon as possible”!
Everybody nused to watch Days of our Lives (some tings don’t change), Marvo Manning, Tony Cumming or Vic Fernandes reading de news, Banks Cabaret too. Today, we got over 100 different channels and digital flat-screen TVs. Keep de good ole days, I like de present! In de good ole days, Sunday lunch was special but everybody had to help: catch and kill de chicken, pluck, clean and lime and salt it, pick rice, shell  peas, dah meal tek hours to prepare and was sweet fuh days!
Today, yuh could just pick a restaurant (food 24 hours a day) and eat! Give me de good times today! In de old days, you coulda leave yuh house open, never see a iron bar in a window unless yuh was in prison.?Give me de good old days!
Sometimes too, yuh does remember good things, like when people had to be able to speak clearly to be pun radio, not sound like if duh got marbles and spit in duh mouth; when English was spoken most of de times and dialect used fuh effect; when radio programmes had in real content; today, only a few does practice de art! Give me de good ole days.
Sometimes though, yuh does remember things and romanticize ‘bout de good ole days and when yuh try to recreate them de magic does be missing!
Like a old girlfriend who call up outa de blue to rekindle old times, she back in de land, yuh heart skip three beats, she want to see you again and you nice up yuhself, lather and rinse wid cologne.?You remember she body did tight like a electric socket, skin like barber green and belly flat like a HD TV! Then, yuh meet de lady and she shape like de Grand Canyon. Yuh shoulda keep de memory yuh had!
Sometimes, pun rare occasions, de memory and reality does collide in pure magic. So when de Vendor hear dat Spice And Co would be at Paul Johnson new place De Ranch pun Spring Garden, I was singing “Spring Garden ah coming”, ah had to see if Shepherd, Straker, Foster and Co. still had de magic!
De verdict was unanimous, Spice And Co are back, fuh how long I not sure but dem still got de magic!
De only question I keep asking is “why it tek dem 15 years to regroup?”
I, Market Vendor, gone fuh now, you have a blessed and a wonderful day yuh hear?
