FORMER?WORLD CHAMPIONS Ryan Brathwaite and Shane Brathwaite are among the big guns who have come home for this weekend’s National Championships in athletics at the National Stadium.
And even with the deplorable state of the track, there is an air of excitement and anticipation that only comes in an Olympic year.
The three-day meet gets under way at 6:15 p.m. today with the preliminaries of the men’s 100 metres, men’s and women’s 400 metres and the 400-metre hurdles for Under-18 boys and men. It continues at 4 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday with some eagerly anticipated clashes.
Former 110M hurdles World Champion Ryan and former World Youth octathlon champion Shane have met the “A” standard for the London 2012 Olympic Games and will go head-to-head. “B” qualifier Greggmar Swift, Ronnie Griffith and Tyrell Forde should also be in tomorrow evening’s race.
