All is set for the first ever Amstel Cup over 1 800 metres on Saturday at the Garrison Savannah.
Executive chairman of R. L. Seale and Company Limited, Richard Seale, outlined details of the sponsorship yesterday morning at a Press conference held in the Incitatus Members Lounge at the Garrison Savannah.
Rosette Peirce, CEO/secretary of the Barbados Turf Club (BTC), said the BTC were excited about the race day and the buzz it had created.
Seale noted that his company had a long history of sponsorship with the BTC and they were happy to be once again associated with the Turf Club through the company’s Amstel brand.
Before presenting the sponsorship cheque and trophies to BTC director Angela Simpson, Seale expressed his satisfaction at the much anticipated return clash between Gold Cup winner Dancin David, Apostle and Show Me The Money.
“Of the seven horses entered, we have six that have won races at the highest level and the other is a champion imported three-year-old,” he said.
He further expressed happiness to be sponsoring a ten-furlong event, adding that race fans were looking forward to seeing Areyoutalkintome put his unbeaten record this year on the line against Dancin David. Both horses won races on Gold Cup Day.
After the sponsor’s cheque was presented by Seale, Simpson thanked BTC president Sir David Seale, Richard Seale and Amstel for their generosity in providing trophies and the cup for the Amstel Cup Race Day.
