Former REDjet director Ralph “Bizzy” Williams was not among those paying close attention to Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler’s comments on the failed airline during Tuesday’s Budget.
Instead, the businessman, who was one of the principal investors in the venture, said he was more interested in the renewable energy concessions.
Speaking yesterday during a post-Budget breakfast discussion hosted by the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry and PriceWaterHouseCoopers, the chairman of the Williams Industries Inc. group, which includes Sustainable Recycling Centre Inc., conceded that he had made an investment mistake with REDjet.
He however declined to comment on Sinckler’s submission that the Government had not reneged on a commitment to inject $8 million into the airline, noting that he had not listened closely. (NB)
