The Gala And Ceremonial Delivery Of The Last Canes offered a melting pot of talent in dance, music, craft, visual art and other disciplines, and truly opened the Sweetest Summer Festival on a lively note.
There was dancing and prancing through Heroes Square on the way to Queen’s Park for the Republic Bank Opening Gala.
Those parading from the General Post Office in Cheapside included Bajan folk characters, the Shaggy Bears, Mulatto Girls (pictured), the Barbados Landship, primary school students showcasing Junior Kadooment headwear, tuk bands and stilt walkers, as hundreds of patrons were treated to a tall dose of Bajan culture.
