It’s the case of a missing letter at the Ministry of Education.
Principal Personnel Officer in the Ministry of Education, Stefanie Charles-Soverall informed a Commission of Inquiry today, that no record can be found of a letter purported to have been delivered to the ministry’s records management unit on June 4 last year, from principal of the Alexandra School, Jeff Broomes.
Charles-Soverall was the first person to give evidence when the Inquiry into the Alexandra School impasse continued at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
According to the public officer, the purported letter was to be a report by Broomes regarding comments he made at the school’s annual speech day, and had been requested by Chief Education Officer, Laurie King.
Charles-Soverall made the revelation that no record of the letter being delivered exists, while being questioned by attorney-at-law Milton Pierce.
“We’ve checked as far back as May 2011, and there is no evidence of a letter being received. I checked with the executive secretary (of the Chief Education Officer) and she has also informed me there is no record in her office of the letter,” the witness testified.
