A?NEW?LOGO?will soon be utilized by the Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development in all its documentation and promotions.
This follows the recent award of first prize to Sammawah Downes, 22, of the Barbados Community College (BCC) for his design adjudged the most “suitable” in the ministry’s art competition, held October 2011 to January 2012.
Downes’ design was deemed to have represented the competition’s theme: Overcoming Educational Challenges in the 21st Century. He won an Acer Netbook, compliments of Illuminat.
The competition, which saw entries from first form to the BCC, was judged by qualified art teachers. Kelly Layne, 11, of Springer Memorial School, placed second and won a BluRay DVD player, compliments of Prudinc, while 14-year old Shonette Bailey, also of Springer Memorial, came third. She received a cheque worth $400, compliments of Fujitsu Caribbean Barbados Ltd.
