Ill wind hurts Beckles

As one national track and field team makes its way home, another is preparing to do battle overseas.
The Barbados team wrapped up the 2012 North America Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-23 Championships in Irapuato, Mexico, without adding to the medal tally of one gold, one silver and one bronze, all won in the sprint hurdles.
Shane Brathwaite (13.31) and Greggmar Swift (13.54) won gold and bronze, respectively in the men’s 110 metres hurdles. While their race had a legal wind, Kierre Beckles was left wondering what else she can do after a tail wind of 4.5 metres per second ruined her bid for a legal Olympic time.
Beckles clocked 13.05 seconds to take second place behind American Brianna Rollins (12.60), while Kenrisha Brathwaite (13.47) was sixth overall.
