THERE WILL BE no double crown football champions this year as Mackeson Brittons Hill and Barbados Defence Force (BDF) have set up a showdown in Sunday’s KFC Knockout Cup final at the National Stadium.
Brittons Hill prevailed 2-0 over the spirited Silver Sands through an early fifth-minute goal by Walton Burrowes and a late injury time (90+2 minutes) strike by Jeffrey Williams in the first semi-final at the National Stadium on Sunday night.
And in an absorbing second semi-final, marred by two ejections and some physical play, BDF ousted defending champions and reigning Premier League kings Weymouth Wales 4-2 on penalty kicks after the scores were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation and extra time.
Goalkeeper Saheka “Rossi” Duke was BDF’s hero, saving the first and third penalties from Dwayne Stanford and Zaeehaeus Polius after Wales’ goalkeeper Bentley Springer, who had replaced an injured Gregg Jones, saved a weak effort from Chai Lloyd.
