FORT ERIE, Canada – Barbadian jockey Patrick Husbands won perhaps his biggest race in recent seasons when he snatched the half-million Canadian dollar Prince of Wales Stakes on Sunday with three-year-old bay filly Dixie Strike.
Going off at odds of 5-2 in the what was the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown, Husbands raced Dixie Strike off the pace before launching a strong stretch drive to get to the wire a length clear.
The pair covered the 1-3/16 mile trip in a time of one minute, 57.54 seconds. (CMC)
