Miss Barbados World off to China

Miss Barbados World 2012 Marielle Wilkie had a quiet send-off yesterday at Grantley Adams International Airport from mum Christine, dad Derek, sister Olivia and Tashida Cox, Miss Barbados World media and public relations manager.
Before she boarded the Virgin Atlantic flight to London, Wilkie said she was excited to represent Barbados, make new friends and showcase her charity, The Tomorrow Project.
In London, she will catch connecting flights to Shanghai and then to the city of Ordos, located in the Inner Mongolia province in China, where the Miss World pageant will be held on August 18.
Wilkie has a full schedule and will compete in a number of categories including Miss World Beach Beauty, Miss World Sportswoman, Miss World Talent, and Miss World Top Model.
She will be travelling alone but will be joined later by Leah Marville, the national franchise holder, Cox and photographer Nigel Wallace. Her wardrobe was sponsored by Dingolay. (NSH)
