General Secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU),?Sir Roy Trotman, has accused G4S Secure Solutions of discrimination against the president of the firm’s union division.
Sir Roy told the MIDWEEK NATION that G4S?was out of place to question the status of a union official.
He said: “We have situations where the president of the union [at G4S] is being discriminated against for carrying out his duties as union president, where the employer has written to the union saying they will no longer recognize the president as though he is able to write International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions 87 or 98, and he is able to determine who is, or who is not an elected officer in the trade union.”
Sir Roy said there were issues that could still be dealt with at domestic level, but there were other matters that may have to go to the Labour Department.
