After nearly 40 years at Wildey, St Michael, members of Banks Sports Club are praying they find a new home soon.
That’s because its long-time corporate partner Banks Holdings Limited (BHL) has accepted a $10 million offer from People’s Cathedral to purchase the former Banks Breweries plant and the accompanying cricket ground and clubhouse.
The deal is reportedly close to completion and yesterday, president of the Banks Club, Mark Estwick, told the DAILY NATION the club had corresponded and met with officials of People’s Cathedral, who had given it permission to continue using the facility until the end of the cricket season in November.
However, Estwick said there was possibly some hope for the cricketers, footballers, hockey players and other sportspeople associated with the former home of Banks Beer.
“We have put a proposal to the People’s Cathedral to continue using the facility and they are to get back to us,” the club president disclosed.
