Hundreds are beginning to gather at Bushy Park St Philip for the MQI/98.1 the one Soca Royale.
It is a picnic like atmosphere as the young, and young at heart are turning out to take in one of the most highly anticipated events on the Crop Over calendar.
Gathering with their 2x2x2 coolers, picnic chairs and umbrellas, they are grooving the sounds of the Mosaic steel orchestra along with Ziggy Walcott. The pannists are on board a truck entertaining the crowd as it makes its way around Bushy Park.
Still to come are Trevor Eastmond and friends with comedy and more deejay entertainment.
The Sweet Soca competition gets underway at 3:45 p.m. when the finalists hit the stage in that competition in order of appearance, Biggie Irie, TC, Mikey, Blood, Mr. Dale, Khiomal, RPB and Li’l Rick.
Despite the looming clouds it is shaping up to be a sweet summer festival here in St Philip. (DB)
