The stage is being set for what calypsonians call one of the biggest events on the Crop Over calendar.
Teams were working from this morning to put up the massive structure, which was moved from Kensington Oval to the Gymnasium at the Garfield Sobers Complex. Lighting and sound checks were also commencing.
Working in the rain offloading tents and equipment it was a busy scene outside, while inside one of the workmen pulling cables said since the Bachannal Show vs Best Of Crop Over was held last night they just picked down certain parts of their stage and put up other stuff.Â
The stage spans 56-feet a concern for Adonijah whose props were 50-feet. De Announcer asked for two tables from a room and seven chairs.
The Gymnasium seats a little over 5 000 and the Oval about 10 000. There will be adequate dressing rooms and bathrooms for the performers, which Gabby says is a bonus. He also said the acoustics inside the Gym cannot be denied. (NSH)
