The king may have found yet another opening.
Long-standing World-Go-As-You-Please draughts champ Ronald “Suki” King is still in with a chance to add this year’s United States Nationals to his long list of accolades after taking advantage of two slipups from Alex Moiseyev to move within two points of the leader.
After falling to a humbling 4-0 defeat to favoured Moiseyev, King then watched the reigning five-time Three-Move Restriction title holder play to 2-2 draws with South African Lubabalo Kondlo and Larry Keen.
King also drew with Kondlo but swept to a comfortable 4-0 victory over long-time local rival Jack Francis to move into a tie for second place with Kondlo on 13 points with two rounds remaining.
Francis was further down the field in 11th with nine points. (JM)
