A record 24 students received Barbados Scholarships this year.
At the official announcement yesterday at the Ministry of Education, Constitution Road, St Michael, Minister of Education Ronald Jones said this was a significant increase over last year’s 13.
“I am happy to see the young people doing so well and stepping up to the plate to receive the scholarships, exhibitions and awards that are available to them,” he added.
Overall, there were 44 scholarships, exhibitions and award winners this year compared with 34 in 2011.
“I am very pleased to know that all four sixth form schools and the Barbados Community College [BCC] received some form of award this year.” (DB)
