Delegates came from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington; from the International Institute for the Inclusive Museum and from other museums around the world for last week’s Fifth International Conference On The Inclusive Museum hosted in Barbados and the Barbados Museum and Historical Society showered them with true Bajan hospitality.
Director of the Museum Alissandra Cummins was proud to show off the artifacts and Barbados’ rich history held in displays in the museum’s galleries, when she and other local museum officials treated participants to an opening dinner in the museum’s courtyard, under the stars.
The focus of the conference which ends today is on culture, promoting research and safeguarding diaspora heritage and cultural diversity. Organizers were the International Institute For The Inclusive Museum, the Barbados Museum and the University of the West Indies.
