Police are investigating the mysterious appearance of calls and messages on the phones of two men at the centre of The Alexandra School Commission of Inquiry, now into its 28th day at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Complex.
Reports indicated yesterday that calls from a mobile phone belonging to Alexandra principal Jeff Broomes were being transmitted in recent days to the phones of attorney Hal Gollop, who is representing the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union (BSTU). The unusual activity escalated over the weekend, leaving both men mystified.
The two have reported the matter to the police, and an urgent meeting was held between lawyers involved in the commission of inquiry and sole Commissioner Frederick Waterman before the start of yesterday’s hearing. The hearing was, as a result, delayed by some 30 minutes.
Gollop declined to comment on the matter, but sources indicated that his cellphone has been receiving messages and calls made by other users to Broomes’ two phones, particularly last Saturday.
