All hands on deck!
Former calypso monarch John King brought a symbolic message to the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) faithful last night during the opening gala of the party’s 57th annual general conference.
King’s rendition of his salute to the island’s first Prime Minister, Errol Walton Barrow, brought a packed George Street Auditorium to its feet.
Minutes after a brief address, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, chairman of the conference committee Michael Carrington and general secretary George Pilgrim all shook a leg to the infectious calypso.
The conference continues today and concludes tomorrow when Stuart will speak to the DLP membership at 11 a.m. in his final conference speech before the next general election.
