Barbados stamped their dominance on the St Kitts 13-And-Under Cricket Festival yesterday by capturing the Ten10 Tournament in convincing fashion with a nine-wicket win over arch-rivals Dominica at Warner Park.
After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Dominica were limited to 46 for six in their ten overs before Barbados raced to 47 for one in seven overs.
It was the second time in the festival that Dominica had to settle for second place behind Barbados, after also finishing as runners-up behind the defending champions in the Twenty20 competition.
Dominica would have had thoughts of upsetting the favourites though, after racing to 28 without loss in the first two overs, before Barbados’ spin attack and sharp fielding limited then to just 18 runs in the next eight overs.
There was one wicket each for spinners Camarie Boyce, Micah Thornhill and Kemar Burrowes, with the other three wickets falling by way of run-outs.
In their reply, Barbados suffered an early setback when they lost Jarion Hoyte in the first over. But captain Najee?Holder joined the inform Limar Pierce and the pair delighted the crowd.
Man Of The Match Holder finished not out on 24, which included two huge sixes, while Pierce was unbeaten on 21. (RB)
