Brokers: Why treat us as accused?

Some customs brokers say they are getting a raw deal while clearing cargo from ports of entry in Barbados.
They claim they are being picked up “willy-nilly” by police and kept in custody for long hours pending investigations, when drugs and other illegal items are found in barrels and other shipments.
While not a new occurrence, they say it is happening more frequently given the recent drug finds at the Barbados Port in particular.
Broker Victor Brathwaite spoke out passionately against this treatment, first on Starcom’s Brass Tacks, and during an interview with the WEEKEND NATION.
“I am asking why the customs brokers are being continually picked up and treated as an accused?”
