The Barbados Union of Teachers is appealing to authorities to remove impediments to the delivery of quality education.
In its message on World Teachers’ Day today, the BUT said it recognized and appreciated the invaluable contribution teachers made to education.
However, there were some areas that needed improving, the bargaining body stated in its message.
“Today we join UNESCO, Education International and our counterparts across the globe who share in the struggles for improved conditions of work, safety in the workplace, zero tolerance to discrimination against teachers, the right to collective bargaining and [against] in some extreme cases the withholding of salaries of teachers,” the message read.
