TWO FIRES in St Michael yesterday morning displaced 12 people, destroyed one house, severely damaged another and slightly affected a third.
One of the blazes forced a primary school to close early and send the children home.
The first fire broke out at Bonnetts, Brittons Hill, around 5:40 a.m. when a 40-foot by 26-foot wooden house occupied by 22-year-old Kerry-ann Coleman was destroyed, while her neighbour’s four-bedroom wood and wall home was slightly damaged.
A Barbados Fire Service official said the blaze that engulfed the rented house was of suspicious origin and was being investigated. (SP/LK)
