‘Passion’ won schol

Barbadian Aprille Thomas is the winner of this year’s Harold Hoyte Scholarship In Journalism.
The features writer in the Nation Publishing Company’s Fourth Estate was thrilled yesterday as she accepted her prize from Editor Emeritus of THE NATION and one of the founders of the Nation Publishing Company, Harold Hoyte, after whom the scholarship is named.
At a ceremony at the Nation Corporation office in Roebuck Street, Thomas said of her win: “To say I was shocked would be an understatement.”
Thomas who has been working at the Nation Publishing Company from January this year will be pursuing her Master’s degree at the University of Leicester from January next year. She will study communications media with a focus on advertising. (LK)
