Prime Minister Freundel Stuart wants the work of the public sector to be respected and for the private sector to work with public servants to improve service delivery.
At the same time, Stuart today admonished public servants to “respect all their customers and seek to provide valued service”.
The Prime Minister’s comments came today as he gave the feature address at the Barbados International Business Association’s (BIBA) International Business Conference at Hilton Barbados.
Speaking to the subject of business facilitation which has been identified as one of the weak links in the island’s business environment, Stuart said the regulatory framework needed to be agile and other processes had to be geared toward faster responses.
Calling for a revised and functioning International Business Charter, the Prime Minister said Barbados had to offer the level of service required to promote itself as a premium business brand.
At the same time, he cited steps such as the e-platform for the submission of tax returns, online services at the Immigration Department and other improvements at the Corporate Affairs Registry as moves in the right direction.
