The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) has called on Government to come clean about the future of the more than 700 public officers of its four revenue collecting agencies which are to be merged.
BWU general secretary Sir Roy Trotman complained that workers of the Land Tax Department, Inland Revenue Department, Value Added Tax Department and Customs had been left to mull rumours about what would happen to them under the Central Revenue Authority.
In an interview with the SATURDAY SUN, Sir Roy said: “The important thing is that with the Central Revenue Authority, there is nothing to hide. Come to the meeting – tell people what information you have.
“If you don’t have the full picture, explain what you have at the moment. If you have documentation, present the documentation so people can go away and study it and then after we come together and we start putting our own positions.
“Because they have not chosen to be that open with the parties, suspicion and rumours are the order of the day.” (GE)
