Barbadian teenage surfing sensation Chelsea Tuach continues to excel on the international scene.
Tuach won her seventh international title of the year last weekend when she captured the Open Women’s Division of the South West Conference of the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) in Newport Beach, California.
The victory catapulted Tuach to the top of the rankings of that division of the NSSA’s South West Conference, one which features 20 surfers and considered to have the highest surfing level on the West Coast of the United States.
“I am so happy to have won, thanks to God for this blessing and my coach Mike Lamm and sponsors Roxy, Red Bull, Dragon Alliance and Dakine for continuing to believe in me and support me,” Tuach said shortly after her win.
She will now turn her sights to the Rip Curl Gromsearch National Final, an invitation only event that brings together the best 16 and Under surfers of the region, in two weeks’ time in Upper Trestles, California.
Tuach will be joined by fellow Barbadians Dane Mackie and Che Allan. The winner of this event will be given an all-expenses paid trip to the world-famous Bell’s Beach, Australia. (RB)
