If the journey from the 3Ws Oval to The Lodge School in St John was relaxing and comfortable then the victory by Sagicor UWI over their opponents Nature Valley Lodge was even more enjoyable as they easily brushed aside the schoolboys in their Sagicor General Twenty20 clash yesterday.
UWI appeared to be going through the motions as they won by nine wickets to record their sixth consecutive victory, remaining unbeaten in Zone A.
Set a target of 94, they romped to victory in just 8.4 overs. They were given a robust start by Chadwick Walton and Raymon Reifer in an opening partnership of 81 off just seven overs.
Walton was eventually caught by Tariq Shorey on the boundary off the bowling of pacer Rasheed Padmore for 45.
He struck eight fours and faced 23 balls. The left-handed Reifer, who was unbeaten on 45, was equally aggressive striking five fours and one six also off 23 balls.
Earlier, Lodge after winning the toss and batting in good conditions, could only muster 93 for eight.
Big-hitting Rasheed Padmore, who topscored with 31, including two sixes off 35 balls and wicket-keeper-batsman Justin Bramble, with 24, were the only batsmen to reach double digits.
Pacer Keswick Williams, with two for ten, and off-spinner Ryan Austin, two for seven, off his allotted four overs were the most successful bowlers for UWI.
