BHTA keeping visitors safe

With one of the most important winter seasons looming for the tourism sector, the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) has taken several initiatives to keep visitors safe.
The BHTA has acquired the services of a former senior police officer to train hotel staff in the basics of safety and security for guests.
In addition, retired Inspector Jeffrey Howell will undertake hotel audits to ensure the facilities are properly protected and have amenities and services which could provide hassle-free vacations for the thousands expected to visit these shores over the next four months.
The security moves were revealed yesterday by Sue Springer, executive vice-president of the BHTA, minutes before the association held a members-only meeting at the Island Inn Hotel with Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin.
