Hundreds of Barbadians converged on The Salvation Army stations across the island yesterday to receive food hampers for Christmas.
More than 3 000 were distributed, an increase of 500 over last year’s.
At the Army’s Reed Street headquarters in Bridgetown, the lines stretched from inside the Hostel And Feeding Centre, to the street.
Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave and Lady Belgrave were on hand to assist in the distribution.
