THE “B” team brought their A-game again.
Anton Cox converted a late penalty corner as Combermere’s “B” side sent their “A” team counterparts to another heartbreaking title game defeat following yesterday’s 1-0 win in the Senior boys’ final of the Sports & Games Secondary Schools’ Hockey Tournament at the Wildey Astro turf.
It was the second time in as many finals that the “B” team got the better of their more highly favoured colleagues, who also lost October’s indoor championship via a similarly heartbreaking penalty shootout.
But Cox made sure to finish this one in regulation time, though just barely, blasting a powerful shot past custodian Alkanie Forde from Kyle Brathwaite’s penalty corner three minutes shy of the final whistle.
