A Kittitian national was arrested and charged with a number of offences while at the Grantley Adams International Airport today.
He is 35-year-old Malachi Maliki Haile Mugabe.
The offences include illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession with 59 rounds of ammunition, importation of a firearm without a valid licence and importation of ammunition without a valid licence.
According to a release from police today, Mugabe arrived in Barbados by air from Trinidad about 11:20 am on Sunday. His luggage was scanned by Customs and the contraband discovered in a false bottom of his luggage. He was handed over to the police and charged for the offences.
He appeared at the District B Magistrate Court today and was remanded until 14 January 2013. (CM/PR)
