Bermuda’s Premier sworn in

HAMILTON, Bermuda CMC — Businessman Craig Cannonier was sworn in as Bermuda’s new Premier today, less than 24 hours after leading the One Bermuda Alliance (OBA) to a dramatic 19-17 general election victory over the ruling Progressive Labour Party (PLP).
Cannonier was sworn in by Governor George Fergusson as the island’s 12th Premier since the introduction of party politics here 44 years ago. He will unveil his new cabinet later this week.
“I am both humbled and excited, excited for my country and our people. The election expressed their desire for a fresh start, for change toward a new future together, a future that embraces everyone, and overlooks no one. This is the future we can all believe in,” Cannonier said. (CMC)
