Hillside went to town on local dominoes.
Dominoes’ weekend trip to The City ended in a big payday for Hillside as the club captured their first ever 125 Points Village Tournament at Palmetto Square in Bridgetown on Sunday.
Led by former male pairs champs Peter Walcott and Colin Hunte, Hillside swept to the title by beating Dream Team 125-117 in the highly-anticipated final.
This was after Hillside upended Speightstown on Friday and Dream Team ended the run of defending champs Wednesday 2000 French Village that same night.
Speightstown settled for third place by edging French Village 125-123.
It climaxed an exciting weekend of dominoes that attracted club players and Christmas shoppers alike, providing a festive atmosphere to an attractive open-air City setting.
“It was the first time we had a tournament of this scale at an open-air venue in Town, and the response was so great that we are considering having a competition like this in Palmetto Square every month,” said local dominoes president Rodney Inniss.
“Dominoes bring people and communities together and that’s exactly what we had here in the City as we had all types of people here watching and taking part in the dominoes at Palmetto Square.” (JM)
