Local business people are not doing enough to sell Barbados or capitalize on possible niche markets in Brazil and Panama, says Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Maxine  McClean.
Introducing a resolution to take note of and approve the White Paper on the Development of Tourism in Barbados 2012-2021 in the Senate earlier today, McClean said that in the case of Brazil, she had so far only heard one local hotel speaking about its success via the GOL direct flight from Sao Paulo.
She also noted that the Intimate Hotels group should seek to market itself in Brazil and simultaneously tap into other strong economies like Chile and Argentina.
McClean, who is also Leader of Government Business in the Senate, chided local business persons for not taking time to sell the possibility of doing business with Brazil to neighbouring Eastern Caribbean countries.
