Merchants edge out Sharks

In the most exciting match of the UWI C.O. Williams Inter-Parish Twenty20 Tournament, St Michael Merchants edged St Philip Sharks in a super over Monday night at the 3Ws Oval.
After both teams scored 161 in their 20 overs, it was left to the one-over decider in which St Michael overhauled a challenging target of 17.
St Michael’s hero was teenager Jonathan Drakes, who smashed leg-spinner Aaron Jones for two sixes in scoring 16 not out.
In the first part of the match, St Michael, batting first, owed their total to a string of double-digit contributions, the best of which was Kraigg Brathwaite’s 37.
While most of St Philip’s bowlers came in for punishment, off-spinner Kenroy Williams grabbed three for 18.
Alcindo Holder’s led St Philip’s run chase by blasting 70 off 45 balls, but it was not enough. (HG)
