Courts Barbados and Christ Is The Answer (CITA) Radio 90.1 FM brought cheer to the Children’s Ward of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday.
Gifts were presented to the 27 children of the ward along with a rendition of We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
Radio personality Tony Marshall, who is better known as “CJ”, said the idea came out of one he had during the summer vacation.
“This is The Gift Of Giving outreach programme where we have gifts for every child on the ward. It was a concept started in June/July when the children were out of school where I wondered, ‘what could the children do?’,” he said.
Marshall said the initial idea was for children to make Christmas cards to give to the patients of the ward but Courts joined in and donated gifts as well.
Managing director of Unicomer Barbados Ltd, trading as Courts, Paula Phillips, said it was the first time Courts had made a contribution to the Children’s Ward.
CITA marketing officer Alison Roach said the radio station, instituted in January, had already initiated another children’s programme called Light Up A Child’s Heart, visiting several churches and giving gift vouchers to a child in each one every Sunday. (CA)a
