Gun battle in court

Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin is in the firing line of gun owners.
Two of them have filed an application for an injunction in the Supreme Court to be heard today, hoping to block the commissioner from continuing to force them to pay separate fees for multi-calibre weapons as part of their annual licence applications.
The owners are said to have wide backing, including from those who use their weapons competitively.
They are arguing that they should continue to pay a single fee for one firearm which can use different calibre barrels.
In addition, they are claiming Dottin has unilaterally altered the terms of their licences, contrary to the Firearms Act.
In essence, the new terms require all applicants to pay a separate fee for any individual barrels which can be attached to the same firearm.
