Member of Parliament Cynthia Forde is of the view that the money Government used to investigate issues surrounding Alexandra School should have gone to help poor Barbadian women.
She put this position forward Sunday evening at Bank Hall while addressing a Barbados Labour Party meeting focusing on women. The meeting , which attracted close to 200 women, was titled Woman To Woman, Shaping The Future Of Our Nation.
A number of women speakers and St Michael West constituency candidate Joseph Atherley made presentations on aspects of women’s contribution to society.
“I believe that the money that was spent on Alexandra’s school commission could have been spent to help some of you unemployed women, and men, to be able to get better training to set up a little business, and for you to pursue your goals with a measure of pride,” Forde said to loud applause in the car park opposite Advent House, the BLP St Michael West District Office.
