The 23rd running of the Michael Parravicino Memorial Hopeful Breeders Stakes and Trophy race over 1 570 metres will take centre stage next Saturday at the Garrison Savannah.
This second day of action for the first racing season of 2013 will also see the 10th running of the Realtors Limited Trophy over 1 100 metres.
C.N. Parravicino, director of Realtors Limited, presented Barbados Thoroughbred Breeders Association (BTBA) president Peter Odle with a trophy and the sponsor’s cheque for both feature races last Thursday in the Incitatus Lounge at the offices of the Barbados Turf Club.
“Michael loved horse racing and breeding of horses,” Parravicino said, “this is why we started and must continue to have these races.
“Many good creoles have won the race and gone on to win big and top class races at the Garrison. Creoles are the backbone of horse racing and breeding and unless we have good stock, we are not going anywhere.”
Odle extended his appreciation to Realtors Ltd and their family for their continued support of these races.
“The BTBA helps promote breeding and is always willing to work with various sponsors to enhance racing. It’s very important to have the support of people like the Parravicinos and Realtors Limited.”
The subsequent draw for post positions revealed Devil Khandy, Sweet Bottom Sarah, Koh-I-Noor, High Tide, Nekitta, Vanity Affair, Janak’s Gold, Khartoum and Hadiya.
