Jones: Be sure of status

DEMOCRACY SOMETIMES creates a bad environment and people abuse the system.
Minister of Education Ronald Jones made this observation yesterday, speaking at length to the issue of the transfer of teachers to and from Alexandra School, and the resulting fallout, with some stakeholders.
While defending Government’s decision to transfer teachers, he complained of a major decay in some people’s attitudes over time, with some elevating what was simply a privilege into a right.
“When we work, either in the private sector or in the public sector, when an employer says to you, ‘Look, I want you to move from A to B’, to essentially do the same task, what is the problem? It is the identical task,” Jones said.
