The Nation’s Associate Editor, Sherie Holder-Olutayo takes a look at what’s trending today in Barbados.
In today’s Weekend Nation, the police have revealed that they suspect that a recent spate of robberies and attempted robberies seemed to be linked to the cash for gold trade. Some of our online readers were quick to weigh in on this issue.
Sonia Patrick Forde: Again I say the police must find out where these guns are coming from and also make sure the cash for gold is not dealing with stolen goods, and  that it is a crime to receive stolen goods.
Renaldo Scott: This didn’t now start happening, people were getting robbed of their gold from time I was small.
Troy P. Hoyte: This is so wrong, why can’t a person enjoy the spoils of their hard work, without some idiot, try to take their life for it. When the victim fights back and hurt the attacker, people would say at their funeral ” He was a good boy “.
C Holder: Stop the cash for gold business! The buyers cannot prove the source of the jewelry no matter what they do.  It won’t stop all crimes but it will stop that element.
