Sinckler: Apologize

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler believes the Barbadian public and its taxpayers should be issued an immediate apology by the Barbados Private Sector Association.
Speaking last night in Spooners Hill, St Michael at the branch opening of a constituency office for the Democratic Labour Party’s candidate in St Michael North East, Patricia Inniss, Sinckler said the true numbers regarding the economic difficulties facing Government should be put on the table and placed in true perspective.
Sinckler said he had a fundamental problem with the association revealing a study done by it indicating that Government owed $49 million to businesses, and that the debt was having a debilitating effect on entrepreneurs.
“I told them we will work on it as assiduously as we can, but I want to make the point that the study’s release is not by coincidence. It is deliberate and well planned,” the MP for St Michael North West told the audience.
He said release of the study was an attempt to embarrass the Government, but such behaviour would always be defended by a DLP administration.
“I’m calling on the private sector, in the spirit of fairness, to do a companion study about how many businesses in Barbados owe the Government money. Let us get the facts out on the table. Don’t just talk about what Government owe you, talk about what you owe the Government.
