THE BARBADOS 4-H Foundation has plans to step up its marketing strategies to increase membership, focusing on recruitment in communities.
This was the word from chairman of the foundation, Osmond Harewood, as he delivered remarks during a service yesterday at the St Thomas Anglican Church to mark the organisation’s 50th anniversary and the start of a year of celebrations.
The 4-H movement reached its peak in the 1970s and early 1980s with approximately 75 clubs. The foundation now has 1 000 members in 35 clubs.
Harewood said that he was not satisfied with this count, having set the goal of 50 clubs by the time the foundation reached this anniversary. (AH)
