Barbados’ largest conglomerate Goddard Enterprises Limited is losing another of its top officials as managing director and chief executive officer Martin Pritchard is set to retire from the company on April 30.
Pritchard’s impending departure comes on the heels of the retirement of longstanding chairman and former CEO Joseph Goddard, as well as the company’s human resources director, Dr Ashwell Thomas.
Pritchard’s departure was announced to staff of the organization last Thursday and to shareholders at the annual general meeting.
Pritchard, who will celebrate his 60th birthday on February 18, worked with the Goddard group for over 32 years having started out as assistant group financial controller in 1981 and progressing in various posts until he took up his current position in 2006.
In a memo thanking the staff for their support and encouragement through the years, he said: “Working with Team Goddard has been a wonderful experience . . . . The last 32 years have been for me an enjoyable and rewarding journey”.
He went on to wish the entire GEL team which extends from Miami in the north to Uruguay in the south, including the Caribbean region, all the very best “as they take the Group forward to even greater heights”.
Also retiring this year and presiding over his final AGM was non-executive chairman Joseph Goddard. This brings an end to a career with the company spanning 41 years, during which he served in many capacities including managing director from 1991 to 2006, when he took up the post of chairman.
