It’s all in the name of love!

Today is Valentine’s Day and as Barbados joins the rest of the world in celebrating the day of love, some local restaurants are fully booked for dinner tonight.
In contrast, some store owners in The City were crying out yesterday that the usually sought after teddy bears and roses were “not selling too hot”.
Zoanne, a sales representative at Kuwanito’s Boutique on Middle Street, said the gift sets and cards were also not moving.
Keith Walcott, owner of Highly Flavoured Kids Boutique on Swan Street, believed that the special day falling in the week and not during the weekend, when most people had “more time and money to shop”, was probably the reason for slow sales.
On the bright side, he added: “We have lollipops in the shape of hearts, butterflies, stars and teddy bears and people buying all.”
At Blessings Boutique representative Karen Clarke boasted that sales were going quite well.
“We’re selling everything . . . . We have some stuffed toys that are singing and the people are fascinated by them . . . . The roses selling and then we have candies – everybody’s favourite,” she said.
Some restaurants reported good news as they had been fully booked for dinner tonight from “months ago”, while others had long waiting lists and were still receiving calls for reservations.
Pisces Restaurant, St Lawrence Gap, Christ Church, was one whose foreign clients had booked dinner months ago while Tides Restaurant, Holetown, St James, had been fully booked for about two weeks.
Although fully booked, Tapas restaurant, Hastings, Christ Church, was still receiving calls, said hostess Amanda Alleyne. (AH)
